Parcours Exercise Trail

Parcours Trail - Sand Run Park - Summit County MetroParks

The Summit County MetroParks page rates their trails on a difficulty scale of 1 - 3. They call this one a 3, and it deserves it. Its fairly short (1.2 miles) but the terrain is pretty steep.

if you want an additional challenge on top of the hike, there are varoius point along the trail where they provide equipment for doing various cardiovascular exercises:

This trail has some great scenery, provides a nice challenge, and keeps you far enough away from the road that you really feel like you're surrounded by nature. Excellent trail. I'll definitely be back here again.

Highbridge Trail

Highbridge Trail- Cascade Valley South-Summit County MetroParks

Of all of the trails I've been visited in the MetroParks, this one has been the worst.

About 5/6 of the trail is basically a gravel road with heavy foliage on either side. There are powerlines overhead the whole way. You don't feel like you're in nature, you don't get much of a workout, and it just isn't very enjoyable. On top of that, it doesn't go in a circle, so once you get to the end, you have to turn around and go back the way you came.

Most of the trail looks like this:

Highpoints:

-I saw the brightest brilliant blue little bird I've ever seen.

-some nice sounds of flowing water and birds.

-Walking under this giant bridge was kind of fun:

Low points:

-Not much of a hike
-Not much of a workout
-Boring
-Unattractive

Overall: there are plenty of other great trails in the MetroParks. Pick another.

Introduction

I've started hiking in northeast Ohio pretty frequently lately, so I thought I'd start sharing some thoughts on the trails I've visited.

In the past couple of months I've been on about 5 or 6 different trails in the Summit County Metroparks, and I've already forgotten a lot about them, so I kind of want to just put down some thoughts so I can remember which trails I want to visit again, and which ones I don't want to visit again.
